How I Spent the Weekend of Oct. 7-8

Last weekend, my husband and I were very busy because we invited our friends to my house have a dinner. We prepared Chinese food to serve our friends and enjoy our time. We had this dinner for two reasons, one is to thank them for help when we arrived here, they did us a lot of favor and provided some useful information about how to rent an apartment. Another reason was we celebrated Chinese holiday – the Mid-Autumn Festival (on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month). In my country Taiwan, this holiday is very important for us, it means that every family gets together and has a good time. We not only offer the traditional Chinese food for our friends but also share mooncakes and shaddock, two foods which are traditionally eaten. Another special active is Barbecue in Mid-Autumn Festival. It is very popular in Taiwan when Mid-Autumn Festival coming.

Jennifer, those are great pictures--did you prepare those foods for the Mid-Autumn Festival? You must be a good cook!

You are lucky to have your husband and son with you to share the joy of this holiday! However, it must be very sifferent for you to celebrate it here in the U.S., rather than in Taiwan. For me, Thanksgiving was always hard when I was living in France. It always falls on a Thursday, so it was a regular working day in France. I always missed my family on Thanksgiving Day.

Hello, Jennifer!
I had a good time looking at the picture that you took. It's lunch time here, so the picture of the foods are making me hungry!

Also, it's really interesting to know the culture of your country! I think I've heard of the name of the festival before, but I didn't know much about the detail. So it helped me understand the culture a bit more!

See you soon~!
